I have heard so much lately, because of all that is going on in the world, that “the end times are coming”. Some people have even tried to pin down a date. I have understood since becoming a follower of Jesus, that we have been in the end times since Jesus first came here.
The Bible clearly states, “But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, or the Son, but the Father alone.” Jesus also says that, “See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people. And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pains.” Matthew 24
Rather than get caught up in all of the hype and fear that is going on around us, I believe that now is the time for believers to focus on what Jesus calls us to. I think that it is time for us to KNOW the word of God and to learn how to love people the way that Jesus did.
Our household started reading and discussing the Bible every day, a year ago, and it has made all the difference in the world. Not only do we know the word better, but it has changed how we relate to other people and how we view the events around us. We have a better understanding of “the whole picture” than we did before we started.
Things are not going to get easier…times and people are only going to become more challenging. Reading the word helps us to keep it all in perspective.
