Fear vs. Faith

How would you define faith?

              Belief or trust in

              Firm belief in something for which there is no proof

              Something that is believed especially with strong convictions

How would you define fear?

I heard someone this past week define fear as a form of faith.  What do you think they meant?  Do you agree or disagree with that?

              They said that fear IS faith that something will go wrong.  I had never thought about it that way, but when I heard what they said, it kind of struck a chord in me and it really made sense.

How do we change fear and turn it around to be faith in God’s promises?

              Fear is like a fox…when we catch it in our garden, we have to capture it and send it away.  If we don’t then it will take up residence and make the garden it’s home because it knows that it is easy.  We have to put up protective barriers, and set traps where necessary in order to protect our garden.  But just catching the fox isn’t enough…we have to do things to build up the walls surrounding our garden…we have to fortify the walls.  How do we do that?  Gathering with other believers is one way, learning scripture and making a point to commit it to memory, because then when an attack comes, we are prepared (in season and out of season) and can ward off the enemy.
